The CRS Story

When the right idea comes along, and you have the know-how, passion and people to make it happen, you're ready for success. Furthermore, like CRS proves, it can happen ANYWHERE—even in an empty game room at a trailer park.

In the late 1980s, our founder was headed back to MBA School. His father, who owns a mobile home park, offered him a job while he was back in school; he would manage the mobile home park and be paid an added bonus if he rented out some of the empty mobile homes.

With some new MBA classes under his belt, he wanted to start a side business while working at the park. He thought if he renovated some of the older, company-owned mobile homes, and added furniture, housewares and appliances, they would rent faster.

His new product was corporate housing in a mobile home park named Corporate Relocation Specialists (CRS). This new product was marketed to the companies in the local area. Unfortunately, the feedback he got from the managers of local corporate companies was the same: none of them would put their visiting executives in the mobile home park. They said to "come back if you have something next to our office."

He thought, "Why can't I just give them what they want?" He rented some houses in strategic locations and used the same furniture, housewares and appliances that he had rented for the mobile homes. He now had the corporate housing product that the area needed.

He advertised CRS' services in the paper and one of the first calls he received was from an insurance adjuster. The adjuster utilized CRS' housing for a family who lost their house in a fire. This chance interaction led to a request to make changes to CRS' service in order to better fit the insurance industry.

CRS had its first real customer! With hard work and dedicated employees, CRS has grown tremendously, from a single office in a mobile park to a national company which is the leading supplier of temporary housing to the insurance industry.
